floating around the google today getting my daily Viking fix I stumbled on an interesting announcement from Yamaha about their 5 year plan for SxS'.

Yamaha says they're planning a new SxS every year for the next 5 years...

I dont know about y'all but this is starting to make me a little trigger shy, Imagine buying a Viking this year and next year they smack us with an 80 hp beastly v-twin.

I'm not sure what sort of vehicles are in the pipe, but does this make anyone pause for a second and reconsider?

One a year isnt that ambitious. Look at Polaris. They have new sxs models every year. And dominate with them.

it is possible but they would really have to get the rhythm going first. It would be hard to keep up though for us. I would hate it if the next year something was significantly better, I would be beating myself up.

It's what they announced after introducing the Viking. 1 per year for the next 5. Yamaha is one of the best at keeping secrets. They probably have all 5 in the system just fine tuning the next and making room for it on the assembly line.

That would make sense esp. considering the direction they went with the Viking. It should be interesting. I'm just glad there back in the running for new ideas.

I'd like to see a Viking Sport model, Now im not expecting anything along the lines of the RZR but maybe something a little more friendly to remote area hunting. Something with tons of speed and tons of storage. a beefier suspension, hotter engine and tall chunky tires. Maybe even a convertible seating system similar to the Pioneer...

I wouldn't mind a slightly sportier model viking. I could really make use of the extra speed but in time...

Agreed, do people drag race these things down the highway or something? i just dont see where you would be going over 50-51 to begin with. Ive got a 71hp VTwin 800 Canam that im sure would do 60 or more, but ive never got it over 40, thats scary enough for me on an atv.

There is a market for it. Same reason people buy RZRs and Wildcats and the such.

Super pwerful and fast ATVs.

Not sure when I'd want to go that fast but they make em.

Just depends what your using it for I would imagine that you would go on a baja run when you have that much speed just for the norm it would be overkill. But fun i might say.

I can't see myself ever attempting something like this, but it could be fun going off some jumps or trying to climb some hills. Do most companies have more than one ATV offering or is it more of a one size fits all deal?
