Stereo install in dash?

Has anyone installed a single din cd player in that open shelf below the speedo? I am seriously thinking about doing this. I have seen the mounting kits but it would be all to easy to save some money and make one myself.

I think im the only one with a stereo installed so far, ive got the SSV Works overhead unit. But under the dash location would be very nice too. If you good at fabbing up stuff, should be nothing to make a mount.
Yup you got it going on. I think I seen a vid of you showing your new tunes off. That's awesome. I already have a kenwood excelon from 2010 laying around, so if I could make this work, I prob wouldn't have over 100 bucks in mine.
Lol possible Sirius radio too
for sure, understand that, and yeah, Sat radio is awesome, got it in the truck, be listeing to Howard Stern in the Viking all the time, haha.

That would be sweet to get a single din in there. Let us know if you do end up with something ;)_
would you just mount the speakers up on the canopy after? cool idea, I don't see a reason i t wouldn't work... could probably even get one of those flip out screen units if you really wanted the bling factor ;)

keep us posted, build thread?

The flip out screen is probably the best since if you really have to get muddy it can be tucked away nicely without getting damaged :D
Get a marine radio, then it will be water proof. I've got a Kenwood in my boat.

That is a great idea! Having waterproof caapability is key for where the viking goes. Thanks for this one! :)
The Kenwood I have has a fold down front that allows you to put your I phone in for Music too. and 25w per channel with 4 sets of pre outs for amps.

Sorry guys, this thread has stalled out on my end, soon as I get a few other projects on the Viking finished up this will be next on my list to complete. I am prob going to spend the winter months building up my Viking as much as possible. I like the idea of stereo in the dash, amp under seat, stereo speaker pods attached under the roof to the roll bars in some fashion.
Didn't know if you had seen it yet or not, but Yamaha has released an in-dash radio mount kit for the viking.
I hadn't, but I checked it out today. 99 bucks ain't bad don't guess
It's 69.99 + 9.99 shipping on eBay
My stereo installed

That looks great! I didn't know you could get a camo radio. Did you end up getting the mounting kit for the Viking? Where did you put the speakers? Any pics of the speaker set up would be great. Definitely going to look into this.

I like the camo, it's not an exact match of my Camo Viking, but it works for me and the speaker covers are camo too!

I researched until my head hurt on the best way (for me) to mount this radio in that compartment, trying to beat Yamaha's pricy mount. In the end, I liked it the most because I knew it would fit perfect, and it did not disappoint.

Stay tuned for speaker mounts, they won't be as professional looking though.
Is it cd player as well? If so hows it do on bumps
