Why choose on over the other? Anyone wanna throw up some statistics at specifications?

So really the only difference that I can see is that the Viking is larger than the Rhino. The Viking has a higher towing and bed capacity.

Is there any other differences people can point out?
ENGINE
Rhino: 686cc, 4-Stroke Single, Liquid Cooled w/ Fan, SOHC, Fuel Injected
Viking: 686cc, 4-Stroke Single, Liquid Cooled w/ Fan, SOHC, Fuel Injected

The only difference engine wise between Viking and Rhino is the location. Yamaha moved the Vikings engine under the bed in response to the Rhinos overheating and heat leak issues.

BOX PAYLOAD
Rhino: 400 lb
Viking: 600 lb

TOWING CAPACITY
Rhino: 1,212 lb
Viking: 1,500 lb

Viking out tows Rhino with the same drivetrain. Chassis has been beefed up evidently.

SUSPENSION
Rhino: Front/Rear-Independent Double Wishbone, 7.3” w/ 5-way Preload Adjustment
Viking: Front/Rear- Independent double wishbone; 8.1-in travel

Viking gets an extra .8" of travel in its suspension

BRAKES
Rhino: Front Dual hydraulic disc twin piston calipers, Rear Hydraulic Disc, Self Adjusting, Shaft Mounted
Viking: 4 wheel Dual hydraulic discs

The Viking receives discs at all 4 wheels, good news for those of you who do lots of hilly terrain

L x W x H
Rhino:113.6 x 56.6 x 73 in
Viking:122.0 x 61.8 x 74.1 in

Wider Viking a result of the extra seat added, extra width may also cause transportation complications if you're looking to move your Viking in a pickup bed.

MSRP
Rhino: $11,499
Viking: $11,499/$12,499

Interesting how Yamaha will be offering both Rhino and Viking this year at the same entry price considering Viking out tows, out payloads and seats one extra than the Rhino.

Yea, I can't tell why you would want the Rhino over the Viking if it doesn't win over the Viking in any category and costs more. There must be some type of justification.

A lot of people like the Rhino and are hating on the Viking. They must have some reason behind this.

I owned a "09" 700FI Rhino for a few years, and now I own a "14" 700FI Viking, and I prefer the Viking, one extra seat, more payload, more towing capacity, a little larger piston for more power and torque, a bigger fuel tank, (9.7 gal), and from personal experience, somewhere around 30% better fuel mileage, top speed on Rhino was around 41 mph, my Viking stock will bounce between 50 and 51 mph topped out.

If they hate the Viking, its because they never drove one. I owned both 2013 Rhino and now a 2014 SE Viking and the Viking is way better. It has way more power as well. The ride is alot better. I mean if anyone thinks the Viking cant go where a Rhino can is saddly mistaken. I mean its only 5" wider and its a little longer which would not inhibit its inability for off roading in the bush. They just keep trying to tell themselves that, so they won't like it.
I still own a 09 rhino , its been a great machine with over 2000 miles on it and no problems at all. I have done a few things to mine and can hit 56 mph now not that I really ever needed to go that fast. On a trail I like to take my time and enjoy whats out there. The rhino is like a goat its unreal what it will go over or through and I think the viking would be the same. I like the viking and might get one someday. One think you can say about the rhino it will get you back home and Im sure the viking is the same. You cant say that about some side by sides! Ive seen some very nice looking vikings on this site and some I would like to own. I would be happy to ride with a viking owner!
Is the Viking more comfortable to drive? I'm talking about the foot angle to the gas pedal. I drove kawi mule and man did my ankle hurt from the sharp angle to the pedal. I was told that the Rhino was a lot like that. I'm 6'4" so maybe that won't matter for any utv.
In the Viking the brake pedal is in line with your leg and the accelerator is to the right of your leg, it is actually directly in line with the gap between the drivers and middle seats. I'm 6'1" and don't have any issues, so I'd say you would be ok.

I owned a rhino and now a viking never had that problem with the rhino, and still don't with the viking so you shouldn't have a problem, I'm 6'3", I doubt the 1 inch will make a difference, I'm thinking if you do have a problem in the viking maybe the problem is in your ankle???
