Rear bumper

I checked online to buy a new back bumper but all I could find was a cheap looking one so I decided to build my own. I tapered the lower bar to insure proper tire clearance when tilting the bed. I hope I don't back into anything but with the plastic tailgate being vulnerable‎, I knew I needed something back there to protect it. Here is a picture of it.

Great work there, really looks nice!!!
You should market those. I would be interested but I already have the EMP one.
That looks great. Looks like you know how to weld. I bet that was far cheaper to build than buying one anyway.
That looks great, lets see some close up pictures of those welds :D
How long did it take you to make the whole thing?
your left rear looks like its running some mean negative camber.... I know you welded one up but if you do need a new one check out the ones from EMP, bout $200

I actually have about 3 hours in building it. I was slow at my shop one day so I figured I would just build it instead of buying one. I had the 1 1/4" O.D. pipe laying around as well as the other materials so I don't have any cost in it other than my labor. I'll try to get some better pics posted soon.
I like when people make it their own. Nice job!
Looks nice.. And yeah, whats with the left rear wheel? Just a photo glitch?
The camber look just a photo glitch. I put a framing square on my garage floor against the tire and it is the same on both sides. It's about 5/8" at the top of the tire.

looking good!

tig welded? and you just spray painted it after?

looks like a piece you'd buy from a store.
I just stick welded it with 3/32" rods. I rebuild used forklifts for a living and had the matte black paint in stock. I just mixed up some in my sprayer and applied about 6 coats of paint.
Very Nice!!
looks great there king. I'm working on a bike could use those welding hands ahahahaa.

But seriously you should look into selling those, I bet you could cut down on that 3 hour build time considering you have the design completed. You could just cut the tubing to size ahead of time and sell them built to order... Especially if you could come in under EMPs price, I'm sure our forum members would prefer to give you their business than some website :D:D

Think about it ;)

agree. do a short run of 5 units and see if anyone is interested. make yourself some money
NO, DON"T DO IT. I have the EMP and if yours is substanially cheaper I'll kick myself for not waiting and I like the looks of yours. I'm just kidding, of course, and I know you can't keep waiting to see what is coming out or you will never get anything. Besides I'm happy with the EMP bumper.
I would have just bought the EMP bumper if it was available when I was searching for one. The only one I could find was a factory Yamaha one and it looked poorly built. I just don't have time at my business for bumper manufacturing or I'd make more of them.
