2019 EPS - Lurching while in drive. Acting the same as if seatbelt is not connected. The seatbelt light and helmet lights are not coming on. Thinking it is the ECU. Any thoughts on this?
Also can the ECU be reset?
Thanks

Diff lights work. Ran it through 2 wheel 4 wheel and that works. It was doing this intermittently but now I can't get it over 19 km without it lurching and seatbelt and helmet lights are out. Made sure I had seatbelt buckled and unbuckled and still the same thing

How many miles /km and hours on it? Does it seam like it’s electrical or mechanical? Maybe bad rev limiter. If mechanical have you checked the cvt sheaves and belt condition?

About 5000 miles and 350 hours. I drove it about 3 miles the other day and it was fine. I didn't notice the helmet light coming on but I wasn't paying attention. It started lurching after I put it in reverse and I turned around. Stopped and put it back into reverse a couple of times then it worked again fine. I also noticed that the parking brake light is working but the buzzer is no. So I leaning towards electrical.
Also what is the rev limiter can't find it in the manual

Rev limiter limits rpm’s. It comes on at 50mph, seatbelt not fastened, dif-lock, reverse etc.

Ever service CVT?
Sounds like rev-limter stayed on when you went into rev.

Is the rev limiter the same as the speed sensor?
How would this affect the helmet and seatbelt light and buzzer?
Is there anyway to test the ECU? I have no fault codes.
I have not checked the CVT

Maybe the seatbelt or handbrake switch are playing up, can you hit them with some spray lube and work them on and off for a bit?
Seems like it might have something to do with the reverse switch? Maybe replace that?

The speed sensor reads how fast you are going and tells the ECU. The ECU then applies the rev limiter which cuts spark to the engine and limits how fast you can go. As said by Sport, the rev limit comes in at 50mph, when you are engaging diff lock, when you ride without the seatbelt done up etc.
As far as I'm aware you can't test the ECU, you find it faulty by eliminating everything else first.
Maybe replace the spark plug in case it's breaking down,

Your cvt is way past general maintenance. It should be done every 1600 miles according to Yamaha. 2500 at most. Not saying this is your problem but the longer you let it go the more expensive it will be, and maybe because of this your belt is slipping under certain loads.

Is the rev limiter a separate device or just a function of the ECU? I will look closer at the wiring tomorrow and thanks for the help. I will post what I find
The rev limiter is a function of the ECU, the ECU takes multiple inputs from various sensors/switches to decide when to apply the rev limiter.

Thanks for the help guys. Good learning for me. Turns out the seatbelt wire was broken. So the rev limiter is no longer a problem.
Seatbelt/Helmut light and parking brake buzzer still don't work, but I can live with that. Fuses are all good too.

Now that I don't have to pay for that I can get some new rear springs. Wife said so. Info on the springs is over whelming to me. It's a 2019 3 seater. I travel heavy. Like to be prepared in the forest. Not looking for fancy just at least the height it is supposed to be. Any suggestions?

I installed the SuperATV 2” lift kit on mine, easiest and cheapest way to go.
I also disconnected my seatbelt switch so I don’t have to deal with that part of the rev limiter

Ya.... All these new programmed features are supossedly designed to protect us from ourselves. My new F-150 puts itself in park when I open the door to take a peek as I'm backing up my trailer. I bet some of the engineers were pissed about forcing that on us.

If I got the shock therapy heavies and put 2" lift kit, would there be any problems with that?

Just a follow up. Also seems like my rev limiter is not working at all now. I can go as fast as I want in reverse and 4 wheel lock.
What about at top speed, say in low?
