Hey guys my viking is revving way too high hitting the rev limiter and barely moving can like if something slipping checked the belt it is brand new..... I run 28 silverbacks and wondering if that may have burned my wet clutch this thing just hit 20hrs. I changed the oil and it got worse i used the yamalube recommeded in the manual any ideas?

Yes sounds like you clutch is fried, you should have upgraded your clutch going with that big of tires,

A word of advice...... put you stalk tires on before you take it to the dealer to make a warranty claim
I agree...sounds like your clutch is shot. BTW...GREAT advice on the original tires for warranty!
Since you didn't say and I always try to eliminate the obvious first, does the Viking roll easily? Just trying to eliminate the possibility of a frozen brake or parking brake--and make sure the parking brake is off.

Good thought TonyJ. It may be a real easy fix. If it isn't, make sure the original tires go back on. Unless the dealer put them on for you.

So isn't there a few other guys on here running 28's or 27's with no clutch kit? So what's different here? 20 hours!.. really?? I've been hearing that Yamahas ultramatic CVT is almost bulletproof. Have they cheapened up the one on the Viking one or is this a one-off?
I'm running 27's and they're also a little on the heavy side. However, I'm sure thinking I should get MUCH more than 20hrs out of a clutch. Having said that, I'm pretty easy on it compared to some.
28"+ tires you should run in LOW range on a stock clutch. (If the trail isn't perfictly flat)

Can you get the whole machine up on stands or blocking, remove the clutch cover and have a buddy or wife run the throttle. Have a look at the clutches and make sure they're both operating properly with no weight on them.
Then take it off the stands and have the same person drive it slowly on a steep uphill grade. Have a look that way as well if possible.
Or just take it in to the dealer and report back to us.

Cheap out? LOL. Yes, they have the best CVT, that doesnt mean they dont need care, and or up grading, especially when you ride like this, with those tires. Im afraid, its operator error, like it almost always is when it comes to broken parts

putting on stock tires today opened up cvt everything looks good belt is in perfect shape all is clean in there and tested with cover off everything seems fine as far as primary and secondary go the belt is flush with top of secondary like its supposed to be i have the knowledge it may be the wet clutch these tires weigh 40 lbs but dont wanna do it myself and have to pay to fix it being its only two weeks old rather have the dealer fix it under warranty.
viking rolls easily . its just when you go it revs with very little foward motion i mean rev limiter revs
Just out of curiosity...what kinda stuff have you put this through. The photo above shows floorboards deep in heavy mud, do you think you've pushed it pretty hard? There are many of us running 27-28's + and you are this first issue like this...anything you can share would help.
Thanks

I think the above picture can pretty much answer your questions.

If you ran your viking in that kind of stuff in high range then yes your wet clutch is gone if you ran it in low it should be ok....unless the tires weren't moving and you stay on the gas
