Greetings,
Been a member over on Wolverine Forums since 18. Owner of a 16 Wolverine R-Spec and now a 2022 RMAX R-Spec, looking to acquire a 23 Viking.
Here for info and hopefully to share some as well.
thanks

Welcome to the Viking forum. Lots of good info here just like the Wolverine forum.
Why do you want a Viking when you already have 2 Wolverines?

I think my answer should be "why not?" :)
Sorry....I didn't write my introduction properly. 16 is gone, replaced with a RMAX. RMAX isn't doing it for me, I want a Viking. Might sound weird to some, but I think Viking is a better fit.
Ordered a Viking, but around April 22, Yamaha said it will not be fulfilling any of the orders and if I wanted a sxs to replace my already traded in and sold Wolvy, then a RMAX was only option. Gave it try but I'm not in love with it. Tons of fun mind you, but I'm looking for something more utility than sport. Kinda like marrying a stripper....it's all kinds of fun, but not really that practical and something bad will eventually happen.

I get it, I got invited to a Yamaha test drive for the Rmax, lots of fun because big horse power always is fun. But not a great utility machine like the Viking which is 99% of what I use mine for.
Welcome!

I have a 2021 Wolverine 850 XTR, I love it. The Viking is a great machine, like you said, its a utility Machine.
Welcome to the forum, @Gergis!
Good luck with your new machine!

I've always thought that would be fun for a while! 😁

Welcome and nice to see you!

Where are you located, there were 2 Vikings available in the Edmonton area here within the last 2 months, clearly they got snapped up quickly, but I'd check the smaller dealers, even out in Hinton.
Thanks for reaching out! I have secured a new 23 Viking and should be doing a transaction soon....looking forward to it. Looking to put a lift kit and 27's right away.

Congratulations. Post pictures when you get it
The wheels turned really slow on this acquiition, but the new whip is in my possession. Part of delay was me holding firm on price to sell my RMax, and other part was Yamaha short-shipping the machine and not including 3 roll cage components. Anyways, it's here now and I'm going get some hours on it today to burn some of that assembly oil/paint/whatever off the hot parts, and get some break-in done.
I went with the DFK flip up glass windshield with washer/wiper again (had one on the 16 Wolvy) after trying a poly unit on the Rmax. The poly, while very tough and about a 1/4 of the price of the glass unit, had too many shortfalls in comparison .....in my opinion anyways. I can say that I put over 5000 miles on that Wolvy with the glass unit, a lot of them on some pretty rough trail, a bunch of tree/limb contact and one rollover without any issue. The convenience of the washer/wiper unit is just gravy.
Poly rear window, 3500lb Warn winch with switch and remote, and a KFI Pro-Plow all came from the dealer, now the rest is up to me. Will start with replacing headlamps with LED H4s (had great results with DZG units last time), adding aux backup lighting, and hope to shortly acquire an Elka package.
But today....I ride!

Great. Send pictures
Forgot to include my first question about this unit! Has anyone else got a stubborn shift lever? This one at times is quite reluctant to get out of reverse. Level surface, uphill, downhill, sometimes works fine, other times it doesn't. Dash indicator will show it in R, but lever is in N or H. I can tell just by the feel of it that it's not letting go.
I did a quick search but only saw a couple posts back in late 13 presumably about 14 model, but there wasn't much more than that.
It may get better with use, it’s new and things are tight. If it doesn’t get better have it looked at while still under warranty.

When this happens which way will it drive?
They can be hard to shift but what's going with yours isn't right. Take it back to the dealer before something breaks.
It will drive the way indicated on the display, not how it should according to shifter position.
Have you tried blipping the throttle and then shifting the lever?
yup...first thing I did. Sometimes helps, sometimes doesn't. I'll have to get an eyeball on the linkage to see if there may be a loose joint or something.
