It won't be the battery if it cranks ok.

Were you driving it when it died and if so were there any symptoms when it died? or did you shut it off then problem started when you tried to restart it?
And have you tried a new spark plug like Cactus mentioned?

Did you check all the fuses?

was your plug wet or dry when you pulled it out? did you check for spark?
He said it had spark and he put a new plug in, he said it had fuel too but didn't say if the plug was wet or dry.

Not firing on starting fluid is unusual, it should try and start at least.

he never mentioned if he took the filter out when he tried starting fluid,maybe it is plugged.

Yeah good point, could've got soaking wet too.
