My fan never comes on now.

it took a couple of times riding and topping of my radiator to get the air out of mine also. my temp gauge shows the same readings, 185 to 205, fan kicks on around 210. I've only had the fan kick on once since installing the heater, it was on a long ride on a mid 40's day when I still had about 1/3 of the radiator covered.

Where did ya end up mounting the temp sensor?

front left hose where it runs along frame, there's a spot where it's pretty straight and I put the Y for the heater there and the temp sensor is back towards the cab a little right after a small bend as the hose heads down under the cab.

I had both enclosure doors off so I tried an experiment. I let the Viking idle while I cleaned the barn with the blower on high. When I was done and got in it was much warmer than outside. Even driving to Poop Mountain I could tell the heater made a difference, especially for the center seat passenger.

Yah, but steamy and warm.

Mine seems better now that all the air is out

Good. I was just thinking today to ask you how it is going and to post a full set of pics including where and how you installed the Y fittings. Report back when it gets really cold outside. I am planning an experiment to see if I get more heat by clamping off the radiator inlet hose a bit between the radiator and the Y.

I have read that some rhino guys installed their's in line before the radiator instead of sending one to the return and get more heat that way.
Also make sure you close your vents when parked. I had some mice move in. Little bastards

Problem is that your cooling system requires 1 inch hose. The core uses only 5/8. Putting in series chokes down the fluid carrying ability of the whole system.

That was my thoughts also. I was thinking about adding a valve.

Mass warned me that valves, even wide open will significantly cut your flow. It may be too much.

Would it really hurt anything in the winter? Does it have a bypass?

I would think you want to maintain at minimum the same flow capacity. It is too early to do the math but the valve may reduce it too much. I'll do the math after more coffee.

Ok I know there a lot of other factors but the cross section of the 1" hose is .78 square inches. The 5/8" hose is .31 square inches. This means that a 1" valve should have a max opening of .47 square inches to maintain the original flow. This is a hole with a diameter of .77" or just over 3/4 inches.

I too looked at using a valve and, although I never did it, I found that you could use a larger valve and a couple reducers on each side of it. The goal would be to find a valve that, when open, has the same inside diameter as your OEM hose. You also need to use a valve that has an adequate heat rating.
Got a little bit of snow this morning so I decided to try out the plow. The heater definitely warms the cab up. If all the air gaps were sealed off I think it would get real toasty in the cab. It is still way better than sitting on a quad and plowing! But I wouldn't want to plow in shorts and a tank top!
I think Mass has the right idea, a larger valve or a full port valve should help
