I have never owned a sxs before so don't have much to base my impression on but took the Viking for a quick ride around the dealer compound and found 2 things that stood out as possible negatives:

1. Seemed to really vibrate at idle - right into the steering wheel. But as soon as you touched the gas it smoothed right out.

2. Loud - like it was reving really high - Is this sound comparable to the a ranger or similar sxs?

Overall was impressed with everything else and even with out the power steering was quite easy to maneuver, great turning radius for that size of sxs.

hey there, im the only one keeping shop around here this weekend looks like, haha. But anyways, the Vibration is normal, has to do with the large single cylinder motor. You get used to it, it doesnt seem as bad to me, as when i first got it.

Far as loudness goes, yeah its pretty loud while riding around for sure, it bothered me more when i first got it, again ive got used to it the more ive drove it. I had a 2010 Ranger 500, it didnt seem to be as loud as the Vikings motor. But either way, i still couldnt be happier with the Viking.

Neither are deal breakers, for me anyway.... Yamaha side x sides are like Toyota trucks, basic maintenance and they run for ever. Both issues can be dealt with to some degree.... should be relatively inexpensive to do so. I'll be working on it asap, so expect some solutions to be available, if you buy one.

This is Yamaha's Technical Paper on developing the mounting system for the 660 engine.... a bit more involved than plunking it on some pieces of rubber, eh? The 686 in the Viking likely has similar development, if a paper exists for it, it is not published. This should get things going in the proper direction for less vibration, and more importantly, holding that engine snug in the chassis.

But mine isnt near as bad as when it was new, hardly notice it anymore.

I feel that a lot of the noise you here sounding like loud exhaust is actually the transfer of noise through the heat shield and the steel bed into the driver compartment. I put a Yamaha bed liner in mine and it quited it down.
Not so load and tinny as without the bed liner. Rapidrobert...

Just got my bed sprayed the other day, it seemed to help, im gonna put the Cabelas rubber bed mat i had in my 2010 Ranger over it, it should help even more.
