I test drove a Viking today. Reason being I sold my 660 rhino due to needing more room a year and a half ago. Polaris 800 hd was a good idea at the time. I never had a problem from the 660 other than room. Now I know why I never had problems. The drive belt system in the Yamaha is much better. The only problem I see with the Viking was at idle the steering wheel and dash has a bad vibration. A bit more engine noise but not as loud as the 660. Anyone have problems from this dash vibration.

My guess would be the single large bore high output motor is what your feeling. A single cylinder motor tends to have more vibration than a twin.
That said unless something wasn't tight it would be my guess.
Yamaha has one of the best clutch/belt setups in the industry hands down. My 02 Grizz 660 had the original belt on it when I sold it and is still using the original belt today.

We'll I bought the Viking a the end of last week. It didn't have the payload of the ranger hd but I'll give up a few lbs in the bed to know I'll make it out of the mountains. I like the Viking a lot. I hope it is as dependable as the rhino. Time will tell but it's a yamaha, so.

Congrads to ya, your gonna love the Viking, ive had 3 Yamaha atv's over the years, and no major issues. Being a Yamaha, I expect the same out of the Viking. Be sure to post up some pics.

Ya, they all shake like crazy at idle. Maybe yamaha should use a counter-balance shaft on the engine, to get rid of the shake. I looked at small Mule 610's with a singe cylinder, that seemed smoother at idle with the countershaft.
