interesting idea, do you have a prototype or design you could show us? What would construction be like, simply a bent piece of metal and mounting brackets or would there also be flame proof insulation?

How effective would they be at actually keeping the diff cool? wondering if you can share any of that with us? Might make it easier to drum up demand that way as well...

I'd be in in order to save me time in making my own. My guess is they won't be too expensive once you have the pattern, they can be cut on a water jet. What is your projected cost? Aluminum, steel, or stainless?

Functional, simple, and low cost will be top priorities for such an item. Testing various materials in various situations is required to find cost vs benefit, so I can't say exactly what the shield will consist of or cost. IME, a simple formed piece of material will likely be much more than adequate for most.

We are currently making one ourselfs now, out of a couple pieces of 3/4 Aluminum cut with a plasma cutter to fit above the diff. Just got the edges smoothed out today. Next step will be marking some holes and drilling, useing some factory bolts that are already there. Then i may get some exhaust/header wrap to wrap that pipe above the diff too, sure wouldnt hurt.
