Camoplast Tracks - looking to pull the trigger

8093 Views 10 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Richard Yvon
I am close to pulling the trigger on buying a set of Camoplast tracks for my Viking. I know there is a few guys on the forum that are running them. Does anyone have concerns or was it a good investment? Do they like the performance and does it add to the enjoyment of the machine? Just looking for some feedback before I drop $4500 on a set. Up in Canada it will greatly expand my riding season having tracks and wheels

Also looking forward to a review. I think there was a video on youtube of someone with this setup, but I'm not sure if they're on this forum.

Either way it will be a big win for you, but of course reading a real owner review will greatly help.
I'm pretty sure I saw a video of someone running tracks on their Viking. It looked like a blast. Have you done a search through the threads to try to find some info? I think that you won't be disappointed with how the tracks perform, its just a matter of if you want to spend the money.
Man I don't need tracks by any means, but if I had the money jus layin around I would def get a set. Talk bout a go anywhere machine!!
Tracks

I have had the same set of tracks that I put on my Rhino in 2013 and they work better on Viking with power steering. Make sure they are set up right to begin with and they are trouble free. Make sure to adjust the track tension when it warms up as the rubber expands. Cause them to derail in May of last year. There are a ton of videos on the web about maintence and setup. They are great even when it is wet in the spring and in swamp. I took mine off in August and put them on in November. So more tracks than tires this year.

How do find the reduction in power? Do you have to run in low gear primarily what is the reduction in top speed while in high on hard pack? Does the speedo read correctly with tracks. Have you discovered any negatives while running them? Thanks in-advance for your opinion

The speed is about half and I do run in low most of the time so I don't dog the engine or belt. It goes plenty fast enough when it is -20.
We are at a point in Maine where wheelers or ATU's are dead in the water because of snowfall amounts. I have had mine in 3 ft of snow no problems at all. I run mine in high range as the tracks are made to gear down for you. I would like a speedo calibrator though. You won't be disappointed. It will climb like no other. Awesome.

If you look at Youtube, for Dirt Trax Tv, they have done alot of reviews, tests, etc on the camo track systems on atvs and UTVs. Great stuff.
I have watch all of them and they have been of great value. They have definitely steered me to the Camoplast units. The guys on the forum have given me a good idea of how they run on the Viking. Now I am just trying to convince myself to spend $4500 late in the winter season. Thanks for the research
