Requiring a replacement belt still sounds very unusual. But no, they should be able to remove the belt without ruining it.

As everyone has said this is very strange, and also as everyone else has said there's no way that rain can get into the cvt. There has to be something not connected right and water has splashed up off a puddle or similar and gotten in. There were posts on here years ago of Vikings being sunk underwater, getting towed out, drain the cvt and off you go.

Take some pictures of the whole belt housing area and post them here. I wonder if the dealer didn’t get something back together properly when they did the first service because that’s when your issues started.
the same thing happened to me .i thought it was the wet clutch but i changed the belt
and its ok now. i cannot see where the water got in like your self.washing the bike maybe?
checked the drain and no water once and water another time. 2000km 2021
its a nice side by side but for the lie about ground clearance and this problem

OP never came back to let us know what the dealer found or did. Hopefully he will but I doubt it it’s been 3 months

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on the new Viking, I haven’t seen any 2022’s yet. Was your Viking sitting outside during the wind and rain? If so I guess it is possible that it got in through the air intake for the belt and clutch. There is a air in and a air out to keep it cool. Condensation might be another possibility. How much water are you talking about. Do you know about the drain plug?
Hi, would someone mind explaining how I access the drain plug to drain water from the recent CA storms? I would LOVE a photo as this happened once before and I wish I had seen where the mechanic found it. TIA
