Wandering - pulls right.

I have a 2016 Yamaha Viking, and at higher speeds, above 30mph, it wanders. I also noticed that it pulls to the right, which is really pronounced on asphalt. Every now and then it will jerk hard right which requires a big correction to keep it going straight. That only occurs on dirt roads so it could be the tires suddenly gaining traction. I do notice it happens less with four-wheel-drive engaged. I have it at Yamaha now and they say the alignment is within spec and they cannot reproduce the pulling. Great. Any thoughts?

The rear end is also starting to sag. I mentioned this to the dealership and they state they contacted Yamaha and Yamaha states it is not a known issue with the Viking. From the forums, it seems to be a problem. I also notice the front right of the Viking is lower than the front left.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

They can wander a bit although yours sounds like a bit too much, my old non eps used to pull sideways out of the blue sometimes, especially if you were hard on the gas. My new unit with eps is totally different, like chalk and cheese, really doesn't pull at all. Is yours eps? Being a '16 I guess it is.

If you jack up your front end and spin each front wheel you'll notice one free wheels easily and the other one seems like it's engaged with the driveline. In 2WD mode that one wheel is still engaged with the driveline components despite not being under power. It sort of acts like a dragging brake. Only in Diff-lock mode does that free-wheeling front tire get any power.

If memory serves me, I think it's the passenger's side that free wheels. Mine also pulls to the right and my guess is the power steering may be tuned to compensate for the dragging left front wheel but probably overcompensates.

Of course you could also have a brake caliper dragging as well to make things worse.

Dumb question... but did you check the tire pressure in the front? If the right front is low, it will definitely pull that direction..
