Unhappy ground clearance issue

I have 2015 viking se have only 8" clearance in rear it sucks dragging on everything
front has 11.5" .. has anyone talk to Yamaha about this clearance issue?

Thinking about adding strongmade 2"-3" LIFT KIT
and changing for 25" tires to 27" .. will I need to change clutch with tire size.. and why??
Any ideas ?

I've heard many complaints about rear sag, but yours sounds about as severe as I've heard about. The lift kit will help for sure. Maybe lift 3 in the back and 2 in the front. Lots of opinions on this throughout the forum if you search. Some do a combo of lift and spacers. I have a 2" lift and 29.5" tires. YES - Clutch is necessary to turn bigger tires effectively. But for 27 inchers??? I probably would - JMO. Some don't bother and do ok.

Why? Why jip your ride power; the Vike isn't a powerhouse to begin with. Also, nobody wants to burn out their clutch; not even yuppies like me who ride around golf courses in church socks and Izod shirts.

I have contacted my dealer to see if Yamaha is willing to correct this..since they advertise 11.8" clearance.. I also looked at 2017 model specs and instead of saying ground clearance it now says maximum ground clearance..i am sure they are aware of problem...I think they just have bad or wrong springs on it

As above 8 inches with an empty bed is ridiculous, generally they start off at 11.5 and end up at about 10 inches or so once worn in. Some on here have had sagging shocks replaced by Yamaha under warranty, so I'd definitely push that. Otherwise you can buy spring spacers off ebay for around twenty dollars or B767driver and Badmonkey made a set of plastic ones that worked ok.

Angry

still working on ground clearance started out with 8" in measured at hitch point...
Yamaha was willing to sell me new shocks and spring assemblies at cost about 130.00 for the pair
new one are from six seater viking which has stiffer springs...after installing ride height at hitch only 9.75 in
so then i added strong made lift kit and set it on 2"...now rear clearance at hitch about 11.4"
clearance in front gained 2" with lift kit...but front was never a problem....
i may end up going up to 3" position on rear after riding it on trails for awhile
Yamaha should sued for false advertising on ground clearance ..
hopefully get it out on trials soon to how much at this has helped

this a 2015 viking se model

Garage
2" highlifter, 2" spring pucks in just the back and 28" carnivorous cured my clearance problem enough that i feel i dont need to go any bigger on anything. while stock and even with the 2" pucks in the back i was banging on all kinds of rocks during the previous spring and fall rides in WV but this last spring ride i dont remember hearing or feeling 1 thing hit along the bottom.

As far as the clutch.......if you want to use it as a shined and polished golf cart like Skrills then you will be fine but why would ya lol. Get the slugs and clutch and you will be happier, i did all that on mine while stock when i did the 20hr service.

I can just picture skrills riding around a golf course dressed up like that drinking some motor oil looking craft beer and your buddy Brian (I think that was his name) sitting in the passenger side holding onto the roller coaster bar lol. You bringing him back with ya this fall?

I've seen the blue banger dirty a few times for a couple minutes or so.

This is probably one of the most common issues to be had with the Viking. As others have said, do a search of this forum and you will find MANY posts/threads on this very issue.

For what it's worth, I had the same issue as you...and installed the Viking VI springs and Strong made lift...HOWEVER, the cheapest thing I added helped as much as anything. For $25, many of us are using these on the rear Yamaha Viking 700 EPS SE VI UTV SxS Lift Kit 2" CFM Performance | eBay
